Am concerned that the Onion Tabloid has chosen money than the values of this land, the leaking of Zuena's Nude Pictures -wife of Singer Babe Cool in Eve's suite was a shock to the entire world. Matters were made worse this time on the front page. If the editor of this paper thinks that he is making the world excited by publishing this, then there's a miss guidance. Just imagine her family, lets talk about her children or grandchildren seeing such staff -that's why I feel like crying. The Tabloid is hurting her parents, it's hurting us. I oppose the de decision of the magistrate in Kalisizo,Central West Uganda of sentencing tow Tanzania nationals for 8 years for getting into Uganda illegally and staying here with no documents yet calling themselves with Ugandan names. I regard this as betrayal of the spirit of East Africanism, a bleach of the East African Pact that allows members/ citizens in the 5 countries of East African region to freely move. Electricity; Uranium for Energy

A nation that does not supply or manufacture enough energy for it's citizens will never sustain fully it's economy.
And if there's any chance to increase energy development, we've got to do it faster .

Uganda's energy distribution does not fully require private sector involvement if we are do away with exploitation.
Always the most important and crucial sectors of the economy need to be in hands of the government to necessitate requisition and utilization of resources, services and commodities on affordable fees by every national.
This explains why it was a mistake for the only Hydro Electricity Power distribution government enterprise to be privatized.
PDP is not saying that UMEME has not lived to it's expectations and that it's services are undesirable.
This should be got clearly that much as this company strives for excellency in the provision of it's services, many Ugandans remain dissatisfied especially at this time;
Whereas being a business like any other profit oriented company- it's not fair thinking about fixing a standard fee on electricity consumption as it wants to do (consumption of 0-50 units for 12000 UG X and 50-70 units for 26000 UG X).
An honest company would continue charging only for what a consumer has used.

Ugandans should also help UMEME while it losses millions every year to those who consume unpaid power and to those who steal it's gadgets.

PDP advocates for gentle and polite approach to this issue, we want electricity prices as mentioned in this year's budget to be implemented.

We ask that the power project in Jinja be not delayed.

There's no problem building a Uranium Power plant since we have this mineral in abundance as long as we comply with the International Laws.
President Museveni should not give politicians as an excuse for failed government programs like Kaluma Dam power project.

Great getting back to you after almost a full month, I appreciate your concern about me making it to my ambitions and that PDP is getting to power by the decision you have made to support us. Series of events have occurred but among the great is my Birth Day on 14th May, making it to 21 years; PDP continued tours deep in big and small villages of Uganda not forgetting towns. I am here this afternoon to bring to you briefly what has been covered in today's Press Conference; Dr Abed has referred the Talk of the Nation's Address yesterday by His Excellency President Museveni at Parliament as Rhetoric and Recycled. His Excellence the next President of The Republic of Uganda argues that Mr. Museveni's State of the Nation's Address does not reflect the true picture of the nation. The re-allocation of the Supreme Court into new premises on Plot 10 Upper Kololo, Terrace has not been necessary and might not meanwhile change anything for the good of the country. As People’s Development Party; we would desire them own permanent structures for the purpose of the convenience and ample space that they deserve. This court lies amongst the important institutions of the state which must be catered for in respect of there dignity. There would be no need apparently of spending an extra 74 million from the 16 million they have been paying to Mengo for that purpose. If it means taking a loan with the approval Parliament to enable them acquire there own structures; they should after all many government institutions have always taken loans to meet there budgets. This will save the 90 million they’re likely to spend monthly and over 1 billion annually on rent Meanwhile we also ask this Appellant Court not to delay the debt they Owe Mengo. Musicians should not go to prison for singing hatred music against there colleagues but they will be counted heroes if they go to jails for talking advocating for justice, equality and good governance. We were flabbergasted that on Tue 12th Jan 2010 the Uganda Police Force had been heavily deployed on Parliament Avenue against two Ugandan Citizens who aimed at exercising there constitutional rights. A 29, 41, 42 & 43 of our magnificent 1995 constitution doesn´t warrant UPF giving permission to people who wish to demonstrate. Demonstrating as long as you do not interrupt or negate national peace & security or disrupt others is very legal. Under the Police Act, UPF is meant to offer security to people like I , Stephen M & Peter Clever Birimuye who desired to enjoy this constitutional Right as we intended to oppose the NRM 3 day Meeting in Entebbe State House as we had proclaimed on Thur 7th Jan 2010 during Press Conference. Police men were armed, had batons and tear-gas and created a situation of tension in Kampala as if we were in Baghdad Capital-what a shame! Anyway before we would even demonstrate, I and Clever were asked to go to CPS along side police cops. Stephen wasn´t at the scene but was called latter. We were interrogated for 6 six hours by police bosses who included; 1-The Regional Police Commander 2-Assistant Supretendant of Police Afande Julius 3-Detective Mutabazi 4-Metro-politan Division Police Commander- Mr. Andrew Suluwen. The 3 of us were detained at CPS for two nights and two days and later alone charged for Interfering with Or Resisting the Administration of the Law by Refusing to follow the Police Advices and Directives c/s 56 (2) (a) (VI) and 58 (a) of the PCA which we regard not to be true. We know that we were Wrongfully Arrested and Wrongfully Detained-This is Malicious Prosecution and before the eyes of God is not Okay! We shall appear again to the Buganda Rd Magistrates Court on Wed 3rd Feb 2010 at 8:00am. We appreciate the Press & Media, our Party, Families and Lawyers not forgetting Ugandans who stood alongside us through out this traumatic and stigmatized moment while Reclaiming the Authentic Dream of of Our Nation. MANAGING GARBAGE IN UGANDA TOWNS AND KEEPING IT GREEN. Some towns have improved on there garbage collection and management yet others have failed so far. There’s no body who doesn’t want a clean and green city but it’s like this is still a dream. You and I can achieve this if we choose to; we’ve got to stop littering and urinating on walls. The law against littering has just delayed. Ugandans should have no excuse of throwing water bottles in roads and dragging sacks of garbage at night towards them and water trenches. We must help municipal authorities and KCC in keeping our public places clean and ensuring a green environment, we should also start acting like Kigali so that on weekend every one including civil servants engage in cleaning our respective towns and plant more trees on weekends

These can’t miss death of characters like Brian Bukenya Son of Vice President, Major Gen Kazini amongst other important citizens. The question that Ugandans are asking is how in the upcoming year we stand to combat all risks that would bring us into agony and tears as it has been this year. We the People’s Development Party argue our government to stand equipped in confronting all challenges facing our country. We do not want to see our people with there property perishing in fire outbreaks. We demand that the government waits not for big figures getting involved in accidents to work on roads. Many roads, dusty, crooked, narrow, full of portholes and have no traffic signs. We demand for the pay rise of teacher’s doctors and many civil servants salaries. We ask the Ministry of Health to provide enough drugs in hospitals to treat our people. We also ask the government to look for market of our farmers’ produces as the Sudanese market slows down as peace is trying to restore in the country. We ask this government to lower tuition in public universities to enable our children study uninterrupted. If it’s possible U.P.E & U.S.E programmes should be substituted with Free University Education because it’s better for a parent to toil with the children at the lower level than in higher institutions of learning. Helping a kid up to secondary and abandon him there won’t guarantee any future for that kid as the job trend today requires at least a diploma; the government should listen. We want in this upcoming year to see the corrupt ministers knifed alongside other government corrupt officials. And finally we want the prices of commodities to lower to enable convenient life for our people in the rest of the country Otherwise we wish Ugandans here and in Diaspora a year of prosperity, financial increase and stability, security, good healthy and on top of that a morally up right and free society. , scientists have confirmed this. Lake Victoria and many other water bodies have continuously been polluted-garbage, sewage and industrial chemical waste have not ceased to be dumped there, and God help us. Ugandans remember the previous reductions of water levels which resulted into load shedding. Do we want this to happen again? We know that the safest way of reducing climate risks is to reduce emissions. We know that taking early actions makes good business sense. And we know the cost of inaction will be much bigger than the cost of action now. The People’s Development Party says that the time has come and indeed the time is now; We must change our attitude towards the environment and climate, we better get serious. We may never get a better opportunity and if the world’s scientists are right, we may not get a second chance! World leaders are meeting early next month in Copenhagen Denmark; we must harness the necessary political will to Seal the Deal on an ambitious new Climate Agreement.

I have the list of Ugandans who have Sealed the Deal so far but it’s quite embarrassing that the people I expected to be on list have not! Those politicians, Government officials, Members of Parliament, Ministers, Activists yiyi not even our Head of State! Which explanation can they give? There always on the internet, even those who can’t access it would do it from the Post Office on Kampala Rd since the banner has been there for the last 3 month. The right kind of Deal will provide the regulation certainty and long term price signals that businesses are demanding.

NEED TO REGULATE SECURITY ORGANS

With all efforts applied to make sure that the image of military police and other security organs is polished, it appears still before the public that this will be along term process.

Terror and intimidation by members of these security organs against individuals remains a worrying problem which must be solved.

The People’s Development Party (PDP) is concerned about the civilians who were victimized by the tortuous acts of three combat men who had come for laundry services at White Rose a laundry shop next to St Paul Book & Media Center slightly opposed Ambassador house on Kampala Rd recently.

The people who passed by- wondered whether we’re in Baghdad or Mogadishu if not in the forests of Galamba hunting for Kony!
The three militia men kept on ordering whoever passed by not to step near the Laundry shop and if you were a customer you had to make transactions from outside or never! One of them covered with open bullets allover his body, smoking and all of them in dark spectacles.
Yes, the fact that I wasn’t a customer at that time but flabbergasted by the situation forced to me cross the road and attempted to enter place to see what they would do to me and for heaven’s sake I wasn’t allowed.

The female attendant was called to come and attend to me from outside.
Swahili and little English are the languages one of them used while talking to me and because it was too much for me I went and called a police man who was passing by on the opposite side to come and witness all this terror and if need be- stop it but when I came with him, himself feared and walked away in panic.

I wasn’t contented; I walked to the Central Police Station and in room 8 -I was assured that the matter would be put to control though I insisted that they should give me Kaihura`s mobile number to report the situation for he once proposed even for arrest of Traffic officers who operate with guns-a sign of terrorizing civilians he stated.

I wrote and talked to the Army Spokes man on phone the following day, wrote to the Minister of Defense and Minister of security and notified them about the incidence and the need to regulate the activities of the members the security organs.

PDP wonders whether this is state desirable by Ugandans to be governed.

What did countries like Mauritius do enable an atmosphere that allows policemen to hold batons in public places? This is an Independent country in Africa not Switzerland a European country!
Where is the problem, is it we the civilians or?
Can’t we resolve our own problems?

A few Presidents in the East Africa region can walk on the street freely without threatening security.
It’s hard for some of them go and watch football in studious in there own countries!
Well, the Police Act and Fire Arms Act make it clear that unless otherwise an armed officer is not meant to use a gun against a criminal suspect while effecting an arrest especially when the suspect is not armed or a threat in anyway. Effecting an arrest with a fire arm against some one who is not armed with unreasonable force is totally undesirable under penal code.

We ask the authorities not to deploy heavy machinery in public unless in chaotic circumstances. In many cases security officers misuse them against civilians like how Nicholas Michunguzi did at Top Pub.

Its not too long when a taxi driver was short by an armed officer, similar offenses in Mukono where an officer killed his wife, we propose that fire arms should be deposited to custodians before them going back home to reduce cases of domestic violence that have claimed lives.

Your Hon Sir, allow me to appreciate the services that I consider worthy-while and excellent amidst the challenges we face as a country.
Your continued efforts to unite all people cannot go unearthed.

Tonight Sir, I am here to share with you a few things concerning the journey while claiming a future;
I considered this approach as accurate and more comprehensive rather than talking face to face in respect to your extensive schedule that keeps you so busy that a times Immediately after lectures you just have to go.

I think you must have realized why I am popular at LDC especially before Lecturers and bar course students which was one contributory factor to our close winning in the last Guild Presidential elections.
My aliagnment with the Diploma in Law candidate as the Chief Campaigning coordinator was a blessing and had we done it slightly some good days before, the 11 votes that our opponent traversed would be unachievable and voidable!
But that’s how it came up, “the winner always takes it all."

Your Hon Sir, an inclusion of this has been to bring to your notice something that I am obliged to say now while articulating the depth of my journey.
Had it went well, I would be among the students waiting for the results of the final exams!
As a student of 2008/09, I was expectant and much optimistic to see my dream of becoming an Advocate sailing with ease; however in controversy my labour for this has only attracted a Ray Grimmer of Hope.
I had to write to Mr. Elijah Wante (Director LDC) explaining how the hurricanes of economic depression were hitting me exceptionally & exclusively in the pockets and that meeting my tuition would be a miracle which eventually manifested irresistible.
I couldn’t make it-not only during the Initials but also by the time many of my colleagues who had passed and were looking forward to the finals;
For me I remained freezed in the mountains of hopelessness & wet like a wild cat in the heavy rains!
I however finished the year with some gratitude that much as I failed on a narrow escape towards the Guild office as a President, I was given an award of the Most Social Law Scholar in the entire LDC.

My struggles to hell with the limitations and stumbling blocks in my path were full of passion and enthusiasm.
I wrote to hundreds of dignitaries in both Electronic and Physical Mail not under-estimating my efforts in knocking on their office doors especially those within the country.
The results only fetched a few pennies which could not even sustain my transport costs for 50 days.

At one time I wondered why certain people walk while talking to themselves but when I discovered that angles of life are not fair while bending towards earth dwellers-I stopped murmuring about it.
It’s vividly exceptional that many citizens on this planet are not less productive and neither are their hands weak nor their brains less inventive but it`s only that the forces of nature just like life are not equal and opposite, so is it to them.

And If we are to ever search for the world’s richest & resourceful places then we shall not have to go to oceans and seas but to Limbos!
Why?
Because many people die without their Dreams coming true, so all they contained in their heads are what the Limbos now keep, what a painful fact!

I think I am the next reporter to be arrested and this should not be a surprise to East Africans and all citizens of the world. The situation has grown intense and each minute that passes by tension, fear, insecurity & intimidation continues to infringe in the hearts of journalists, reporters, presenters, moderators and in the eyes of the public. While in the conference with president Museveni yesterday alongside politicians, and religious leaders of all sects at Hotel Africana-Nile Hall discussing sustainable reconciliation, peace & justice, two more outstanding and prominent members of the media were arrested. Robert Serumaji of spectrum 7:00pm-8:00pm Radio One, Mon-Fri, was arrested though acquitted on police bound with caution of not presenting and moderating again! Just immediately when Peter Kibazo (Radio Simba-6:00pm- 8:00pm, Mon-Fri) had finished his program on WBS TV, was besieged and arrested. Till now he hasn’t been realized. At the beginning of this week a television & another radio journalist were arrest in Kayunga, Bugerere where the Kabaka –Youth function was supposed to take place but made impossible by president Museveni! Tonight I stand fearlessly and unchallenged by any one who claims journalist are inciting violence while executing there services as required; I demand for the immediate and thorough realize of Serumaji, I insist that Peter Kibazo and other programmers of ‘Binsangawano’ early morning program on radio Simba be reinstated unconditionally. We can’t stay silent when CBS, Radio Sapentia, Ssubi Fm, & Kaboozi Stations turned off by the National Broadcasting Council on orders from above; In the first case who is that above? Instilling and inculcating revolutionary ideals of nationalism ad pan Africans in minds of the young generation is a must phenomenal-him being the son of the land. This implies that when the character fails to take leadership by peaceful means he resorts to a gun and when the character needs to rule extensively be bribes the parliament. Anyway we do not care because nobody new that at one time Amin the field Marshal would be buried in a nation thousands of miles away from his home land. No body new still that Mubuthu Seseseko with all the wealth he had could be buried like a standing man! Have we forgotten that even dictator Adolph Hitler committed suicide when he threw himself in acid? This perhaps should be enough for this despot to know that a nation is a nation and it’s made up of people and once they decide democratically that you should go so you should. You do not have to interfere with the judicially, Electro Commission, Army, Police, and Parliament and even suppress opposition members not forgetting harassing and bribing voters for you to implement your life presidency ambitions yet you once claimed that ..” problem with African leaders is that they stay to long in power.” Your honor Mr. president Museveni if you have failed to win the opposition in Kampala you should not decide to takeover Kampala forcefully no should you create more districts to have more cadres and even get rid of districts that do not vote you. UPDF forces and officials of other government-related military security agencies have committed and are still continuing committing multiple abuses against the human rights of northern Ugandans, including summary execution, torture, rape, child recruitment, and inhuman conditions of detention in unauthorized detention locations.

They are rarely prosecuted for crimes committed against civilians. Even when UPDF abuses have been investigated, the investigations have sometimes been kept internal and therefore have created an appearance of impunity, which has not improved public trust.UPDF responses to allegations of abuses against civilians, such as rape, unlawful killing, and torture, range from the crime going unpunished, to being "punished" by transferring the accused, to the court martial of some individual soldiers without proper investigation, all the way to the rare court martial. Often it appears that the action followed, or the punishment meted out is at the sole discretion of the individual UPDF field commander.For example, the storming of Gulu Prison by UPDF Soldiers.The UPDF has committed summary (extra judicial) execution and torture of captives since Operation Iron Fist began. Since the last time when four UPDF mambas (armored vehicles) full of UPDF soldiers raided Gulu Prison under the command of the head of military intelligence of Operation Iron Fist, Lt. Col. Charles Awany Otema. According to eyewitness reports by prison inmates and confirmed by the assistant superintendent of Gulu Central Prison, prison authorities (wardens) refused entry to the soldiers after the UPDF officers failed to produce a search warrant or any other document permitting them to enter.During the raid, the UPDF soldiers beat and pushed aside the prison wardens, as they forced their way into the prison. Captain Rugadia, of the intelligence division of Internal Security, ordered twenty-three prisoners by name out of their cells. A UPDF officer singled out a prisoner known as "Yumbe," Peter Oloya, who was accused of planning to escape from the prison. That officer then ordered the soldiers to shoot Peter Oloya.The prison wardens rejected this accusation and tried to stop the killing, arguing with the UPDF that no one would try to escape from the prison with so many soldiers present, and therefore there was no reason to shoot any prisoner. Nevertheless, the UPDF soldiers shot Peter Oloya in the back, with the bullet exiting his chest. Everyone panicked and another prisoner was almost shot.The UPDF soldiers hastily loaded the twenty-two prisoners, together with the dead body of Peter Oloya, on the mambas, ordering them to lie down flat.

They took the prisoners straight to the quarter guard at the army barracks detention center in Gulu. The UPDF took Peter Oloya's body away and has not released it to his relatives for burial as of the writing of this report. The UPDF claimed it had to move the prisoners from Gulu Prison based on military intelligence's discovery of a planned rescue attempt by the LRA.This event, and the subsequent torture of the prisoners at the Gulu barracks, has generated a number of civil suits, and actions by many human rights bodies such as UHRC, Amnesty International, etc. Leave alone many unreported arrest, detention, killing of civilians by the UPDF soldiers.These days is even worst under the command of Operation Iron Fist, Lt. Col. Charles Awany Otema, because the UPDF soldiers would falsely suspect you of being a rebel or rebels collaborators. On suspecting you, they will arrest you, torture or ill-treat and detain you in the military barrack. Sometimes they arrest you and dress you in military uniform and begin claiming that they caught you in the battlefront fighting against the government alongside the rebels. This happened to so many people who are civilians, some even students.

The best-known case of this kind occurred in Nwoya county last February 2005 where a man by name Opoka, a farmer was accused first of growing crops for rebels and later after he was arrested by UPDF soldiers from his garden even when digging in his cassava plantation by the UPDF soldiers. They arrested and dressed him in army uniform, and they later killed him, then they fabricated a story and reported that Opoka was a rebel and he was killed in a battlefront fighting on the side of LRA.

Another case was a boy named Odida Churchill from Awac, a student of Awere senior secondary school. Odida was arrested when he was coming from school and he was even carrying his books, but he was arrested, taken to Gulu military barrack, and later UPDF soldiers said he was arrested in a battle fighting alongside rebels. He was tortured to death by UPDF soldiers, and so many others.Non-stop Torture and Ill-Treatment by the UPDFThe UPDF soldiers ever since has been arresting, torturing and detaining civilians in Gulu military barracks. Aida Lagulu was arrested and gang-raped during her detention there.

Tony Kitara, the local councilor-III of Bungatira, Gulu district, reported that he was tortured in Gulu barracks. AbuOpoka was arrested, tortured and detained in Gulu Military barrack on so many times for being a mother of suspected rebel collaborator. Recently she was found shot with other women whom the UPDF soldiers claimed they shot them unintended because they (UPDF) thought they were rebels.In a separate case, Stephen O, a twenty-five-year-old man from Layibi in Gulu municipality, lost a leg after UPDF soldiers shoot him outside a shop and later they came back to make sure he was dead. Stephen went on his bicycle to the trading center to buy paraffin. Just before he entered the shop some UPDF soldiers ordered the shopkeeper to close up.

Two of the soldiers came up to him, placed him under arrest, asked him about his home, and started beating him with the butts of their guns.One soldier, addressing Stephen in Kiswahili, ordered him to run but Stephen did not understand him and ignored the order. The other soldier, from Teso in eastern Uganda, told him (in a language he understood) to run "otherwise I would be shot. I started to run and they shot at me. They hit me in my leg."The Teso soldier ordered many people around the shop to leave. stephen lost consciousness and woke up three hours later and started crawling into a nearby hotel. He heard the soldiers coming back to check on him and one said, "I told you the guy's leg was not shot properly, so he escaped."Stephen hid under a bed in a hotel room but the soldiers, after more searching, found him and took his identification card. He played dead.

More soldiers came in and argued over whether Stephen was dead or not. Searching his belongings, they took 1,000 Ugandan shillings from his pockets, and left. Two soldiers came back, dragged Stephen from the room, and threw him into the bush. Early in the morning, he managed to reach a nearby house and ask for help.Stephen's leg was amputated in Lacor hospital in Gulu but he did not take his medical form, describing his injuries, to the police afterward. He did not see any reason for doing this because, "There are so many people who were shot by UPDF in my area and nothing happened, nothing will happen when I bring the form to the police because even police is part of them."Torture is inflicted on some people held in military detention facilities by UPDF soldiers. After David O. was arrested for alleged collaboration with rebels, UPDF soldiers under the command of a second lieutenant, whose name David provided, burned David O. by pouring melting plastic from a jerry can over his shoulders and back.

The UPDF arrested and reportedly tortured members of David O.'s family inside the army detachment to force them to disclose the name of the person who had reported the case to the human rights group. Under coercion, they provided the name of the paralegal of Olwal IDP camp, who was then arrested and kept in detention at the army detachment in Olwal camp.David O., the torture victim, was asked to pay 35,000 Ugandan shillings for his release. "It was 5:04am on the Sunday morning of 14 May, 1989 at Supreme hospital, Old Kampala when planet earth received you!" Says my mom, Ms Esther Nassuna. "At 3:00am i experienced labour pains and and what followed latter was a vox wogan one of the expensive vehicles of the drove me. I remember within the course of the journey near shell Kazzi the car experienced some technical faults and the driver had to fix it. In spite of all that, God was so good that everything went smoothly till when we reached to the hospital maternity ward. However one of the puzzling event that happened at your birth is that the doctor took over 30 minutes to recognise your lively hood. Normally when kids are born ,doctors or nurses pinch them and they cry so as to understand that the baby is alive . Unlikely other babies like i have said we got worried so much as you could not cry much as the doctor did so an latter you did an d we smiled at the Innocent new young one." Well that`s my story my people. My achievements in the last nineteen years are so many. The needy people will always be with us in the society said Jesus and it`s our responsibility for us whom God has trusted with his treasury to to give out to the poor,orphans.disabled and minorities generously. comrades this young man who is half a British and half a Ugandan by names of Fansio Kutesa 13 years living with his grand mother residents of Masajja B Zone-Namasuba Parish,Makindye Sub country,Wakiso district,Central Uganda-East Africa is unlikely to not to finish his Primary Seven. Here is his Story according to the old woman-Grand ma Justine Nakiyinji Babirye -50years. "This grand son of mine was dumbed by her month when he was 11 month old and she disappeared up to now. Initially the mother was in love her fellow classmate of almost the same age who made her pregnant at 17 years. This young man was a son of a British who lived in Lubaga-Kampala suburb during the era of President Idi Amin Dada who had made me pregnant and in 1972 when Amin was expelling the Asians, he too left the country living the baby of 2month to me. I raised the young man up to 18 years when he impregnate the classmate and also disappeared from and when Fansio was dumbed to me at 11 month i`ve taken care of him up to now." "Fansio is now 13 years but i can`t move her any further ,you understand my son Earnest (telling me) i used to work for D.K,"(David Kanyerezi,owner of D.K Hill School Namasuba Entebbe Rd) where i attended my O.Level and A.Level partially and this lady had been nick named "Jaaja Cups" because her work was to prepare porredge for the students. " And when i i could no longer work any more i left which meat that Fansio who could study on my salary would not proceed any more. Today I m my legs are so weak with pain and that's why I only taking care of those pigs... i sincerely n`t know the fate of my grand son after failing to continue with education." Tourists, foreign diplomats and Ugandans have failed to identify the status of Kampala City. Kampala is less than a one year old baby unlikely in 60s when it was definite like at least a brown ugly woman. You can’t imagine the manner in which it’s congested, stinky and over populated like nothing. The planners of this city deserve life imprisonment if investigations prove them guilty and in case they are responsible for the arson and collapsing buildings every now and then. One wonders a city that is commercial, administrative and residential at the same time. Worst of it all with crooked and tiny roads. What’s that then? While disco techs are polluting, some other people are sleeping in the neighborhood- God help us! No sound proofs you can imagine? The Government of Uganda alongside K.C.C has failed to exercise their duties in emphasizing a convenient and smooth environment for Kampalans to enjoy. I would like to appreciate a few individuals who have started allocating shopping malls away from the city center. Such services should be extended near to public in their residential areas. Kenya now concedes control of disputed island

The Kenyan government has conceded interim control of the disputed Migingo Island to Uganda as talks to resolve the bilateral tiff continue. Kenyan Foreign Affairs minister Moses Wetang’ula was quoted in the Daily Nation newspaper of Monday saying, “The status quo at Migingo Island will remain, to await the resolution of pending issues between the two countries.” A view of Migingo Island on Lake Victoria, whose ownership has been the centre of conflict between Kenya and Uganda. Yesterday, the Kenyan authorities said Uganda can have jurisdiction over the island as negotiations continue. COURTESY PHOTO It added, “The decision was reached in telephone conversations between President Kibaki and his Ugandan counterpart, Yoweri Museveni, who are in talks over the disputed island in Lake Victoria.”Both countries had made an agreement that the island remains under Uganda’s control until the East African Community decides on its ownership. Uganda maintains that the island is under Bugiri District in its territory, while Kenya claims it is under Nyatike District. The Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura, who visited the island for three days, told Daily Monitor that there was no need of confrontation but added, “We are prepared to defend our territorial integrity.” Gen. Kayihura said, “These people use the island as point to carryout illegal fishing in our area and this is a violation of our territorial integrity,” “Settlement on the island started in 2004 but before that the rock was submerged in water and it couldn’t have been used as a boundary.”

Museveni announced the long-awaited Cabinet reshuffle late last night, with big surprises. In the shake-up, Museveni dropped ministers Dr. Ezra Suruma for finance, Gen Salim Saleh (micro-finance), Ham Muliira (ICT), Maj. James Kinobe (youth), Dr. Atwooki Kasirivu (lands), Prof. Semakula Kiwanuka (investment) and Kagimu Kiwanuka for economic monitoring. The big new comers are First Lady Janet Museveni who is now state minister for Karamoja, Gen Jeje Odongo bounced back as state minister for defence, replacing Ruth Nankabirwa who takes over from Saleh. Veteran minister Syda Bbumba made history when she became Uganda’s first woman finance minister. A banker, Bbumba first served in energy before moving to gender. Another veteran female minister Hajat Janat Mukwaya moved from trade to general duties in the Prime Minister’s office. The other surprise appointment was veteran politician Aggrey Awori now ICT minister, MP Joseph Kakooza is now rimary health state minister, the Rev. Father Simon Lodo is state minister for industry, Asuman Kiyingi replaces Kasirivu as state minister for lands. The new state minister for economic monitoring is Kisira Mbuza while Jessica Alupo takes youth and children affairs. Henry Bagiire is state for agriculture. Kinobe, Ssemakula Kiwanuka and Kagimu Kiwanuka have been appointed ambassadors together with Mrs. Angelina Wapakhabulo and former minister Betty Akech. Vice-President Prof Gilbert Bukenya has retained kept his job just as Premier Apolo Nsibambi and deputy premiers Eriya Kategaya and Henry Kajura also did. Others who kept their positions are security minister Amama Mbabazi, defence minister Dr Crispus Kiyonga, foreign minister Sam Kutesa, works minister John Nasasira, attorney general Khiddu Makubuya. However, controversial local government minister Major General Kahinda Otafiire now becomes trade minister replacing Mukwaya. Gabriel Opio has been elevated to gender minister from education state minister, Adolf Mwesigye takes over local government, Daudi Migereko is Chief Whip, Hillary Onek has moved from agriculture to energy while Kabakumba Masiko is now minister for information and national guidance. Hope Mwesigye who has been state local government minister has also been elevated to powerful but delicate agriculture minister. But third deputy prime minister Kirunda Kivejinja has now taken over the internal affairs that became vacant after Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda was appointed permanent representative to the United Nations early this year.. Suruma was appointed Senior Presidential Advisor for finance and economic planning while Gen. Saleh is Senior Presidential advisor for defence and former Vice-president Dr Wandira Kazibwe bounced back as senior advisor on micro-finance. Other senior presidential advisors are Moses Kizige (special duties in foreign affairs), Kasirivu Atwoki (land matters) and Hamu-Mukasa Mulira (ICT).

The spacecraft touched down in the Mongolian desert to rapturous applause from mission control in Beijing. While in orbit, the men conducted experiments said to be crucial to China's space programme, as well as its first space walk. "It was a glorious mission, full of challenges with a successful end," he said. "The result is a huge achievement. KYABAZINGA HAS FINALLY JOINED HIS ANCESTORS!

The Kyabazinga of Busoga Kingdom, Henry Wako Muloki has passed away this morning at Mulago Hospital in Kampala. I was there nosooner had the Prezident His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni s/o Mzee Amos Kaguta had left the following day. Early this year, the Kyabanzinga was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus and was flown to India for treatment. He later came back to Uganda feeling better though his condition went from bad to worse only after a few weeks. The 86 year old Kyabanzinga was re-admitted to Mulago Hospital on August 25. Dr Benon Wanume, also Busoga Kingdom’s information minister says he has been losing blood making him weak. He finally passed out today morning at about 5:00am. Kyabazinga Muloki was elected by the eleven royal traditional chiefs of Busoga and has been in charge of the kingdom since he was 35 years. We shall greatly miss you,You`ve been an outspoken and couregeoous outstanding leader. May your soul rest in Enternal Peace. KEB

I do not want to remember the memories of Luwero triangle though I was still a soul in the earth but History will always be reliable as Napoleon Bon` Aparte the Great petitioned his family and the descendants to study it so much as it is the only true philosophy. One Political Scientist once remarked “ Freedom is the blood of martyrs that was poured.” To a greater extend it’s authentic though it depends-especially when the latter judges the so-called “EFFORTS” of revolutionaries. I’m so amused at the same time flabbergasted about where we are and where we are heading. They say tomorrow is the most important thing in life. It comes to us fresh and pure at mid night hoping we’ve learnt something from yesterday. However it should be noted that “TOMORROW” is promised to no man. Sorry but it was a West African writer who said, “ One who swallows a Udala seed should vary the size of his anus.” Your Excellency, I would like to thank you and appreciate your services for this country. By the time you found it or joined leadership, it was under political turmoil and its state security wise was a threat. You’ve built up a strong and well trained- organized army with professional and military skills inculcated to them. In Buganda we have a proverb that says “ Etassima eburwa agiwa” Meaning that being unthankful can deprive many from giving you gain. You where able to create relationships with traditional leaders most especially the Kabaka of Buganda to the extend of reviving kingship and culture though today what happens can easily be seen by the blind that the relationship is fading away and I’ll tell you latter why? In the economic beat of it your potential and capacity to attract the investors to come and operate their investments can’t be left unmentioned though I’ll also latter tell you why what begun good has turned to be a blessing in disguise. The fact that you managed to host the different international summits including the Common Wealth Heads of Govervenment Meeting (CHOGM), Arab Youth Forum, Islamic Conferences to mention but a few deserves you called a gigantic man. The Foreign and adventurous policy you’ve fueled has at some extent been successful but I will also tell you why it has become poisonous. It’s in your regime that different resoureces engulfed in this wealthy but poor country (To explain this statement latter) such as oil- the great has been discovered. There so many economic, political, social, scientific, educational, cultural, etc waves of change that are happening and that have happened in your regime that time can’t allow me tell. That honors you credit so that when you die today, you will always be commemorated as a president of change who once ruled the beautiful and African greatest pride. Your Excellency the reason why I’ve fearlessly and unintimadatedly written to you is to stress a number of things that I will ask you to bare with no matter how tiresome and lengthy to read but to tell you in depth of perhaps the state of this country in all aspects and inspire you in advance so that you’re not caught up with time, age and name. History will judge me right or wrong but not even my descendants will fail to appreciate or blame me for what I’m inculcating into you this day of 06th.08.2008 for the well being of this great Nation, your name and family and to the entire world. Our grand parents said “ Zitakusoka nezitakuva nyuuma.” Implying that better for you to suffer earlier than in the end when you’ve actually tested the sweetness of things. Whatever goes around must come around and whatever brims will surely slow down! Your Excellency, I’ve been one of the lucky people to intrude deep in literature material most especially books and literature material written by strong characters here in Africa, books written about African presidents such as Nelson Mandere, Robert Mugabe`s “ DAY AFTER MUGABE “ and so many others. It was in this literature intrude that I came across a book that you perhaps authored or some one you gave permission but about where you came from up-to-date. The “Sowing Of The Mustard Seed” is the book that I’ve read over and over again that portrays “behind scenes” and basis of your long time career-LEADERSHIP- that you currently drive. It is in this book that you stress out this remarkable statement “ The problem with African leaders/Continent is that the leaders take so long in power…” This is the basis of my letter because it explains many challenges and achievements besieged with the current leadership that I’m not sure is democratic just like a civilized society elucidates but this is not my point now but as we go ahead the message/content on this white paper will reveal all this. In the Mustard Seed the whole world learns and gets to know that you came with less than thirty sophisticated guns, a few clothes, food and some necessities that you and your comrades looted in the villages of Luwero and perhaps a passport that of course is renewed to a “RED” one currently.. The current Global statistics on African soils ranks you as one of the top Billionaires with averagely eighteen Billion Dollars (US 18 B $) in assets and liabilities not mentioning the liquid money on your Bank accounts in both foreign and domestics Financial Institutions. This implies that in the past twenty-three years in power you’ve managed to accumulate that (whole) wealth! I do not know how? But at least I know your constitutional salary and ware of how much goes in the two State House budget including that of Entebbe. Your status as a “ BILLIONAIR” is just a by the way but wanted to stress out for a certain aspect that I will point out latter. Many, not some-yearn to come to [power with an element of becoming Billionaires –multibillionaires in-fact so that they accumulate and enjoy wealth alongside other beneficiaries as first citizens of this State. I’m not condemning them because I know how much many have tempted and overcome by money but it does no good before the heaven and earth for leaders to live luxurious life yet the subordinates can’t rise even one shilling to bargain for (SALT) not (SUGAR) which many Ugandans have turned to consider as a luxury which of course should have been essential I’m not saying it because for me I access sugarful coffee but I’m saying it because each normal-I repute normal (not diabetic) person should be entitled to a sugarful cup of tea, but because of the vivacious state of poverty salt, which is so cheaper than sugar can’t even be purchased by many Ugandans. This shouldn’t be a surprise to you Your Excelleny, it`s true and more authentic like you existence as the Head of State today This is just a nut on a complexity of issues that I’m raising tonight just like I promised you in advance at the beginning of this context. Unlike like H.E George Walker Bush Junior S/O George Bush Senior, who came into power at the beginning of this new millennium in tragedy that emanated a few moths on United States with the bombing of it’s places; The World Trade Center and Pentagon (If I’m not mistaken), which was not a sign of warm welcome from our brothers in the Far East. Anyway I won’t go header on “HIM” because He’s left with just days to walk out of White House which I democratically love but what I wanted is to stress out that, HE came (comes) from one of the wealthiest families under the sun with shares in the oil resources on United State and other parts of the world. Implying that, HE hasn’t got wealth from the United States Presidential office rather it’s in blood though always a king I will always be a king and the Bible says that one who has will always be added- cetelis-teribus/ In brief your acquisition of wealth thru leadership is a little bit different from Bush Junior (H.E) whom I’ve shared with you above. Your Excellency I’m not pin-pointing at you as in particular as a point of target only but the people equally around you most especially your army comrades have fallen “victims” {particular word} of wealth accumulation. They have encroached on purchasing hectares of land, invested in multiple business such as private investments, property dealings and on top of that holding fatty bank accounts both abroad and within the country! I will still say just like I commented on you that I’m as well ignorant on how they’ve managed to acquire the capacity of all this but equally so their salary statistics hasn’t been restricted from the knowledge of the public depending on their ranks. That’s between them, God and perhaps you as the Commander in Chief of the UPDF. I will not go in depth about the land issue that has been circulating between big people in Government sectors such as the army I’ve talked about, investors, your personal rich allies and surfs/tenants who are the poor. This issue of land relations is still a proposed law but you’ve witnessed how much opposition has been inflicted against. I’ll leave this to you, your concerned personnel’s and advisors too. But I pray that whatever the reparations of this are, Ugandans should be able to live and enjoy in their own country not as strangers or foreigners. That’s done of course, I don’t think I’m to repute unless otherwise but on another level. Your Excellency, many scholars and professionals have defined development in many ways. I’ve met some who have defined it as castles and lights everywhere in the country and I won’t blame them and so on and so forth. However with politeness and humility, what or how do you define development? Well to me let me tell you how I define it. If.. If I repute- If, I can be able to send my children abroad for better education or here in the best educational institutions, provide them with die tic foods, excellent housing, when they fall sick they can access excellent medical treatment and once in a while pay tickets for them to go and watch movies or listen and enjoy from music artists. Yeah, Yes! Believe me not that’s what I expect from you as in definition. But what happens? Or has happened Your Excellency S/O Mzee Amos Kaguta? Uganda is the opposite of what I’m trying to talk about though wealthy than any other State in Africa next to DRC {Research} in reverence to the statement I made earlier that “Wealthy but Poor! ” This country has suffered enough beyond and Immeasurably- inexplicable. You may ask me how? Or even confront this statement but the truth can be easily be identified and felt by even newborn babies. Please and please don’t compare this country to any other else though it could be a little bit far from others but will speak in this context and if others given chance to be Uganda as in resources and opportunities would be among the 1st world and member of G8 You see that? Mr. President get me right, I’m not a political belonging to any party here but I am who I am. Let me challenge you by giving you an example .You may either buy it or not but that fact will always remain so. Rwanda (H.E PAUL KAGAME & HIS ADVISORS) got her independence “ yesterday” but just imagine the rate of growth She’s on! This country whose “Castles” are completely poor compared to Uganda, Not even resources and opportunities like hosting International Summits and Conventions, her delegates have not moved out as frequently as it is here to see and compare where they come from, in all aspects! This is the Country even if I don’t go in details that have maximized the [little/small] potential they have to change the image and standards of their country. Education, Health, Security, Infrastructure to mention but a few not forgetting Human Rights as the only powerful tool to development have moved so fast..Faster than anyone including the blind can fell yet they’ve been in the war “yesterday!” I’m done with Rwanda let me come back here because it won’t help so much in this context. Much as the education system has been growing on a faster say more private schools and tertiary institutions but what has been done is just a toss on a whole loaf of bread. First of all even if I won’t dig deep the Government and concerned bodies are so much aware and for a number of times the public has come out towards responsible people but still little has been implimated in response. I won’t talk about the state of schools that have been put across already but will talk about this system of making sciences compulsory and limited or no sponsorship to art students. When I was still in secondary, I offered History as one of my combination subject and put European History in emphasis. It was Napoleon Bon` Aparte the Great who used/tarnished education for his own contentment and satisfaction when he banned the study of most arts though he banned the study of most arts he recommended History to his family only as I told you earlier. He never wanted Nationals to study about basic and essential things that will open their eyes and give them skill to oppose his regime. In this aspect he excelled because he prolonged himself in power without much opposition because he diverted/ directed all students to sciences. Yes there good but we should leave choice to people because a doctor needs a lawyer, insurance, banking skills, architectures, and so many things that I can’t explain now because even God gives us choice. In that, a parent won’t be able to meet University tuition for which is hiked day and night for her son/daughter and so on and so forth- I can’t explain much about that it’s done also. Your Excellency Uganda’s taxation base and capacity has widened following the previous budget that declined foreign support. I’ve also been going through different companies that paid bulky taxes I the previous time, MTN, Uganda Breweries, Stanbic Bank-the list is endless and I appreciate that. However on a sad note the loopholes involved in the tax system and over taxation not forgetting excessive and unnecessary taxes imposed on Ugandans their business and property has affected economic growth and investments in this country! The introduction of a multiplicity of taxes almost to each and everything in monetary value has left no space for Ugandans to enjoy and prosper in their own country. At times I regret saying may be graduated tax was better! Why? Because before it’s ban prices of commodities were affordable to at least 85% of Ugandans and it were only those eighteen years and above vulnerable to taxation but today no wander even a two month old baby in it’s mother’s uterus is paying the taxi! Ask me how? If a match box used to be at fifty (50shs) and today it’s at 150shs, or a bag of posho-maize flour which used to be at fifty thousand and today at almost eleven hundred thousand then I wonder whether we shall manage life. Your` Excellency, you’ll tell me it’s a global phenomenon for increase in food and oil process but I will strongly oppose you though I’m aware- I repute –“I’m ware” Of it. Bur let me tell you something; Uganda has been naturally blessed that even when other countries are affected for it won’t feel the pain! Why? The soils, climate etc that this nation is wealthy of is enough to meet and satisfy the demands of a population equivalent to that of Nigeria-(100m & above) even when it’s staying here but what happens even this population is crying-I’ll advise you just like I promised your Excellency to bless the agricultural mechanism be it scientifically advanced manner or any else but your hand of blessing and emphasis meanwhile will help it share this with you agriculture minister too if necessary please. Your Excellency, I’m sorry but I said earlier that you’d forgive me where I seem rude and straight but it’s not for the good of me or you only but to this generation even our children and grand grand…. But my point here is. I feel like crying when you talk about pleasure in sky rocked prices of food and other commodities-because of the reason you give “ When commodities are sold to Sudan, DRC, Rwanda etc on high prices is of benefit to Ugandans!” No! No! No! Your Excellency I strongly and million of times oppose that. Why? When I was still sitting in the Economics classes during secondary education I learnt with evidence that when you sell a commodity at a high price, it will eventually be scarce latter and when you need it again you’ll purchase it also on a very high price and the money you got before will be helpless to you since it will have gone already and you’ll be having a debt to clear since you could have borrowed some money to add on what you had to have a fair bargaining power for it. This is what is happening. Though the backbone of this Nation is Agriculture, a number of people are not Agriculturists. In-fact the highest percentage is in many other sectors such as education, industry etc for their survival. In spite of such an economy you’ve gone ahead to advise the few people we are depending on for food supply to export the little to countries like Sudan ironically to get a high exchange earning in difference at the domestic market price as your pint of view. This is very wrong… it has made also the demand at home raise both industrial and Agriculture products price wise. It does no better Your Excellency and it sounds haggard and ridiculous to keep and take care of a dog yet you can’t afford feeding yourself! The dog needs meat that you don’t afford! Your people- I mean Ugandans are crying and besides it’s no better having much money in circulation that you think has been earned from trade relations yet it’s value is less compare to it’s power of purchase. All I’m saying is, let Ugandans grow and manufactures their products to meet the demands of their own people so that at the end of the day inflation will be curbed yet fluctuation will also be controlled. That’s done too but don’t forget what Tanzania and India employed in that field. Concerning transportation network, I want to thank you most especially for this years budget that has greatly targeted the road system-Mbarara-Masaka highway is under construction and I’ve been following the money you’ve been offering alongside charitable Internationally but I think Hon Nasasira hasn’t done a lot infaou should meet him before he sees a door out of the ministry office. I just wonder why the roads are done as if they’re only lasting for this generation! What will our children use for heaven’s sake? The Government offers a lot of money for Excellent services but it’s like the hands where it goes isn’t safe. I ask him to resign if he has failed to work and serve his country diligently and honestly! If your stament wasn’t only sweat in saying but would bear fruits to then were looking forward to better transport services like railways, roads.reduced air transport costs from the oil benefits. The I.G.G has tried her level best to fight corruption and embezzlement but I ask you to empower that sector and also look for other measures to fight corruption. This is a deadly disease. It’s no better letting a man who has mismanaged in fact let me use “robbed’ millions and millions to move freely yet a chicken thief is burnt to death please make sure there strong and tuff laws against corruption in all sectors then our children will borrow a leaf from us. Your Excellency, I wonder why the first family, parliamentarians, cabinet ministers, UPDF bosses and other people in the Government run abroad for medications and health services yet Ugandans continue to die miserably in agony in the deficient and bankrupt medical centers of the country. Were all children of this country, why should many suffer at the expense of others? Cheap drug hope for breast cancer In the UK, almost 46,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed each year A combination of two inexpensive existing drugs may offer a new way to treat breast cancer, according to UK and Finnish researchers. The common chemotherapy drug and a brittle bone medicine almost completely stopped the growth of tumours in mice. The Journal of the National Cancer Institute said the combination cost a twentieth of Herceptin, given to breast cancer patients by the NHS. Specialists said the results of human trials now under way would be crucial. Although modern treatments mean that cases caught sufficiently early, some via breast screening programmes, have an excellent chance of being successfully treated. The study was a joint project between researchers at the University of Sheffield and the Kuopio University in Finland. Its findings could offer an even more effective way to help some patients. It used a dose of the drug doxorubicin, a common component of chemotherapy regimes, followed 24 hours later by zoledronic acid, currently given to osteoporosis patients. In the mice, this stopped 99.99% of new cancer cell growth in tumours. It is thought the first drug could be "priming" the tumour to be more sensitive to the cancer-cell killing qualities of the second drug. Dr Ingunn Holen, who led the study, said that the study showed that the drug cocktail could "kill breast tumours". "These results show that a patient may benefit the most if these two drugs are given in this particular order." She said that the results of a human trial were expected later this year. Speed advantage If that proves successful, the drugs would not have to undergo a lengthy licensing process, simply have the change of use included in their current licence. Breast Cancer Campaign, the charity which funded the study, said it was encouraged by the potential for the drug to be made swiftly available to women. Its chief executive, Pamela Goldberg, said: "The results of this study could change the way breast cancer patients are treated. "The good news is the that the two treatments are relatively inexpensive and already used in the clinic." A spokesman for Cancer Research UK said that a study in humans would be important. "Establishing the most effective combinations of drug treatments and the timings in which they are given is an important area of clinical research. "But the benefits of giving zoledronic acid after doxorubicin have only been shown here in mice and now need to be evaluated more fully in people with breast cancer."

US forces to deliver Georgia aid Mr Bush says the US stands by Georgia's 'democratically elected government' President George W Bush has said the US will use military aircraft and naval forces to deliver aid to Georgia following its conflict with Russia. Speaking in Washington, he expressed concern about reports of continuing Russian action in Georgia, and urged Russia to respect a ceasefire accord. Mr Bush hinted that Russia could be jeopardising its international ties. The first US C-17 military aircraft has landed in Tbilisi carrying medical and other supplies. The Kremlin said the US must choose between partnership with Moscow, or with the Georgian leadership. "At some time it will be necessary to choose between supporting this virtual project and [a] real partnership on questions which actually require collective action," said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The BBC's Caroline Wyatt, in Moscow, says the Kremlin's reaction suggests they have been bitterly stung by Mr Bush's comments. But she says Mr Lavrov spoke in the knowledge that the US is unlikely to back up its verbal support for Georgia with any more concrete action. George Washington Born: 2/22/1732Birthplace: Westmoreland County, Va. George Washington was born on Feb. 22, 1732 (Feb. 11, 1731/2, old style) in Westmoreland County, Va. While in his teens, he trained as a surveyor, and at the age of 20 he was appointed adjutant in the Va. militia. For the next three years, he fought in the wars against the French and Indians, serving as Gen. Edward Braddock's aide in the disastrous campaign against Ft. Duquesne. Nigerian advises against 86 wives Mr Bello Abubakar says he does not go and find women, they come to him Nigerian Mohammed Bello Abubakar, 84, has advised other men not to follow his example and marry 86 women. The former teacher and Muslim preacher, who lives in Niger State with his wives and at least 170 children, says he is able to cope only with the help of God. "A man with 10 wives would collapse and die, but my own power is given by Allah. That is why I have been able to control 86 of them," he told the BBC. He says his wives have sought him out because of his reputation as a healer. "I don't go looking for them, they come to me. I will consider the fact that God has asked me to do it and I will just marry them." But such claims have alienated the Islamic authorities in Nigeria, who have branded his family a cult. When you marry a man with 86 wives you know he knows how to look after them Wife Ganiat Bello Abubakar Most Muslim scholars agree that a man is allowed to have four wives, as long as he can treat them equally. But Mr Bello Abubakar says there is no punishment stated in the Koran for having more than four wives. "To my understanding the Koran does not place a limit and it is up to what your own power, your own endowment and ability allows," he says. "God did not say what the punishment should be for a man who has more than four wives, but he was specific about the punishment for fornication and adultery." 'Order from God' As Mr Bello Abubakar emerged from his compound to speak to the BBC, his wives and children broke out into a praise song. Some of Mr Bello Abubakar's wives are younger than some of his children Most of his wives are less than a quarter of his age - and many are younger than some of his own children. The wives the BBC spoke to say they met Mr Bello Abubakar when they went to him to seek help for various illnesses, which they say he cured. "As soon as I met him the headache was gone," says Sharifat Bello Abubakar, who was 25 at the time and Mr Bello Abubakar 74. "God told me it was time to be his wife. Praise be to God I am his wife now." Ganiat Mohammed Bello has been married to the man everyone calls "Baba" for 20 years. When she was in secondary school her mother took her for a consultation with Mr Bello Abubakar and he proposed afterwards. "I said I couldn't marry an older man, but he said it was directly an order from God," she says. She married another man but they divorced and she returned to Mr Bello Abubakar. "I am now the happiest woman on earth. When you marry a man with 86 wives you know he knows how to look after them," she said. No work Mr Bello Abubakar and his wives do not work and he has no visible means of supporting such a large family. Many of the wives live three to a room, some have seven children He refuses to say how he makes enough money to pay for the huge cost of feeding and clothing so many people. Every mealtime they cook three 12kg bags of rice which all adds up to $915 (£457) every day. "It's all from God," he says. Other residents of Bida, the village where he lives in the northern Nigerian state, say they do not know how he supports the family. According to one of his wives, Mr Bello Abubakar sometimes asks his children to go and beg for 200 naira ($1.69, £0.87), which if they all did so would bring in about $290 (£149). Most of his wives live in a squalid, unfinished house in Bida; others live in his house in Lagos, Nigeria's commercial capital. He refuses to allow any of his family or other devotees to take medicine and says he does not believe that malaria exists. Fertility treatments 'no benefit' Experts discuss the report findings Two common treatments for fertility problems do not work, an Aberdeen University-led study suggests. UK guidelines recommend the drug clomid and artificial insemination for couples who have trouble conceiving despite no known cause for their infertility. But trials of 580 women in Scotland found the treatments were no better than trying to get pregnant naturally, the British Medical Journal reports. A third of couples who struggle to get pregnant have unexplained infertility. It means, despite a battery of tests, doctors cannot find a reason why they struggle to conceive. It sends a positive message that the chances of success spontaneously are pretty convincing Professor Siladitya Bhattacharya, study leader The options listed by the National Institute of Clinical and Health Excellence (NICE) include up to six cycles of unstimulated intrauterine insemination - where sperm is inserted directly into the woman's womb - and use of clomid (clomifene citrate), a drug which stimulates the ovaries. The treatments have both been offered for many years because "doing nothing" is an unpopular choice among patients, the researchers said. But until now there has been little rigorous testing of their effectiveness. Success rate Five hospitals were involved in the study: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, Falkirk and District Royal Infirmary and Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Scientists from Oxford University also took part in the research. In the six-month study, participants had all suffered unexplained fertility problems for more than two years. Overall, 101 women ended up having a successful pregnancy. Of those who tried to conceive naturally, 17% became pregnant and gave birth to a live baby. For clomid, the birth rate was 14%, and insemination 23% - not significantly different from the chances of success with no intervention. However, the women undergoing active treatment were more reassured. Between 10 and 20% of women taking the drug had side-effects, including abdominal pain, bloating, hot flushes, nausea and headaches. The drug also increases the risk of twins and triplets, which can be more dangerous for mother and babies than a singleton pregnancy. But the researchers were quick to point out that it is a very useful treatment for women who have problems with ovulation. 'Cheap but common' Study leader, Professor Siladitya Bhattacharya, from the University of Aberdeen, said the findings challenge current practice. "The first thing is it sends a positive message that the chances of success spontaneously are pretty convincing." He added: "These treatments are cheap but common - if you total all the money, time and effort spent on them, it's considerable." In an accompanying article, researchers from the Assisted Conception Unit at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, said because of the lack of evidence, many couples with unexplained infertility endure "expensive, potentially hazardous, and often unnecessary treatments". Dr Allan Pacey, senior lecturer at the University of Sheffield and secretary of the British Fertility Society, said: "It is very important that we have a strong evidence base to support the treatments that are offered to infertile couples and as such this study is very valuable. "Intrauterine insemination has been offered to couples with unexplained infertility for many years, but if there is no benefit in doing so then we should re-evaluate the clinical guidelines so that NHS money is used wisely।"

Comedian Bernie Mac dies aged 50 The comedian starred in recent trilogy of Ocean's films. US actor and comedian Bernie Mac has died at the age of 50. Low marks linked to schizophrenia A lack of diligence and attention at school could be early signs of illness Poor performance at school could indicate an increased risk of later developing schizophrenia, a study says. UK and Swedish researchers followed more than 900,000 children born between 1973 and 1983. The Psychological Medicine paper found getting an E grade in any GCSE-stage exam was linked to a doubling of the small risk of developing schizophrenia. But a mental health charity said the illness was often linked with high, rather than low, intelligence. Schizophrenia, which commonly causes people to hear voices and experience paranoid delusions, often becomes evident in the late teens or early 20s. Repeating years The researchers, from the Institute of Psychiatry at King's College London, and the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, looked at Swedish data on exam results taken at the age of 15 or 16. They then looked at hospital data on admissions for psychotic disorders including schizophrenia after the age of 17. The people in the study might have had normal intelligence but started having low-level symptoms that disrupted their schooling Hilary Caprani, Rethink Sweden has comprehensive national registers, with every individual having their own identification code, so the data could be compared. The general risk for an adult to be diagnosed with schizophrenia in any given year is seven in 100,000. Getting an E grade in any of the 16 subjects looked at by the researchers was linked to a doubling of that risk. The researchers found those with the poorest school performance overall had four times that risk of developing schizophrenia when they were adults. Other studies have shown that there is a link between schizophrenia and earlier problems with learning or understanding. However, the researchers said other factors were probably involved. 'Low-level symptoms' Writing in the journal, Dr James MacCabe of the Institute of Psychiatry, who led the research team, said: "School performance should not be seen simply as a proxy for intelligence." The researchers said poor attendance and engagement with education, memory and attention problems as well as issues with organisation, creativity, diligence and social skills could all play a part. Dr MacCabe said: "Doing badly at school is not a cause of schizophrenia, but it is a marker for something not being quite right several years prior to diagnosis. "This isn't going to be a way of identifying people at school who are at risk of developing schizophrenia. "But it could be useful when considering someone who is displaying other potential symptoms of impending psychosis." But Hilary Caprani, a spokeswoman for the mental health charity Rethink, warned: "It is important to recognise that mental illnesses like schizophrenia are not linked to low intelligence. The opposite is often true. "There are lots of reasons why young people perform poorly in exams. "Problems with concentration and mental distress can interfere with studying and these can also be early signs of mental illness - symptoms that commonly begin in late teens. Soul icon Isaac Hayes dies at 65 A look back at the life of Isaac हायेस US singer-songwriter Isaac Hayes has died at his home in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 65, police said. Police were called after his wife found him unconscious next to a moving treadmill. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Mr Hayes, a flamboyant, deep-voiced performer, won an Oscar for the 1971 hit Theme From Shaft. He was perhaps better known to a younger audience as the voice of Chef from the hit cartoon show, South Park. The cause of death was not immediately known. Isaac Hayes: Obituary Life in pictures "Family members believe at this point it is a medical condition that might have led to his death," a police spokesman said, adding Hayes was being treated for "a number of medical issues". Hayes suffered a stroke in 2006. He was about to begin work on a new album for Stax, the soul record label he helped build to legendary status. Collin Stanback, from the label told the Associated Press news agency that the star "embodies everything that's soul music." He added: "When you think of soul music you think of Isaac Hayes - the expression, the sound and the creativity that goes along with it." Hayes the showman Hayes - along with Al Green, James Brown and Stevie Wonder - was one of the dominant black artists of the early 1970s. The star, a self-taught musician, was hired in 1964 by Stax Records as a pianist and saxophonist, working as a session musician for big names such as Otis Redding. He established a songwriting partnership with David Porter, and in the 1960s, writing hits for Sam and Dave such as Hold On, I'm Coming and Soul Man. This success led to a recording contract, and in 1969 he shot to fame with the release of the groundbreaking album Hot Buttered Soul. In 2002 Hayes was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame The theme from the film Shaft was a number one hit in 1971. He won an Academy Award for the song and was nominated for another one for the score. The song and score also won him two Grammys. In a statement released from The Recording Academy, the body behind the Grammys, president Neil Portnow called him a "true renaissance man". He added: "After laying the groundwork for the Memphis soul sound through his work with Stax Records, his groundbreaking theme song and score for the movie Shaft cemented his status as a musical icon. "The world has lost a true creative genius and a passionate humanitarian, but his indelible legacy will remain ever present. "Our deepest sympathies go out to his family, friends and all who were inspired by the man and his music," added Mr Portnow. When he was elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002, he put his success down to good chance. "I knew nothing about the business, or trends and things like that," he said. "I think it was a matter of timing. I didn't know what was unfolding." Hayes was also in several movies, including It Could Happen to You with Nicolas Cage, and Ninth Street with Martin Sheen. He achieved a different of popularity later in life as the voice of the South Park character, Chef. But he angrily quit the show in 2006 after an episode mocked Scientology, a religious movement to which he belonged. He was married four times and has 12 children. News Europe Georgia signs EU cease-fire pledge Thousands of Georgians have protested against 'Russian aggression' [AFP] The Georgian president has said that he has signed a cease-fire pledge proposed by envoys from the European Union. Mikhail Saakashvili said on Monday he signed the document together with Bernard Kouchner, the French foreign minister and Alexander Stubb, his Finnish counterpart. While a Kremlin spokesman dismissed Saakashvili's cease-fire claim, Vladimir Putin, the Russian prime minister, said the West had mistaken the real aggressors for the victims.Putin, shown speaking on Russian state television, singled out the United States, saying Washington was helping to bring Georgian troops home from Iraq. The former president, also said Russia would take its peacekeeping mission in South Ossetia to a logical conclusion. The EU plan, apart from the cease-fire call, also proposes medical access to victims, controlled withdrawals of troops on both sides and eventual political talks. This move on Monday came as the war between Georgia and Russia over the breakaway region of South Ossetia appeared to be widening. There were reports of a fresh Russian bombardment of a military base and radar installation near Tbilisi, the Georgian capital. "There were two bombings. One at the Kojori military base and another on Mount Makhata. As far as I know there are no casualties," a Georgian spokesman told the Reuters news agency early on Monday. Kojori is about 10km from Tbilisi and the military base is home to a special forces battalion. And at Mount Makhata, about 5km from Tbilisi, a bomb struck an air traffic control centre. The Georgian government also said Russian aircraft had bombed a military airfield near Tbilisi's main civilian airport on Sunday. Earlier, Utiashvili said the strategic Georgian town of Gori had come under "massive" attack from Russian artillery and aircraft while tank-led ground forces were preparing for an assault. "There was massive bombing of Gori all evening and now we are getting reports of an imminent attack by Russian tanks," he said. "Gori is being bombed massively from the air and from artillery as well," he added. Temur Yakobashvili, a Georgian interior ministry spokesman, said Russian tanks had tried to cross from South Ossetia into Gori but were turned back by Georgian forces. Rapid evacuation Al Jazeera's Jonnah Hull, reporting from Gori, said thousands of Georgians had rapidly evacuated the town at the first mention of a possible full scale Russian invasion. "There was massive bombing of Gori all evening and now we are getting reports of an imminent attack by Russian tanks" Shota Utiashvili, Georgia interior ministryBut he could not confirm if an invasion was imminent and said there had been no official word from the Georgian government on the attack. About 65km northwest of the Georgian capital Tbilisi, Gori is just south of the border with South Ossetia, which has seen fierce fighting between Russian and Georgian forces in the last few days. It is the largest Georgian town, about 50,000 in population, that sits close to the region and an important strategic link between eastern and western Georgia. Utiashvili said Russian troops were preparing for a ground assault. They "are not there yet but it looks like they are getting ready for it," he said, adding that Georgian forces were returning fire on Russian positions. Doubts over ceasefire The reported attack came after Georgia had offered a limited ceasefire in South Ossetia on Sunday for the passage of humanitarian aid and said it had pulled its troops back across the border. It also offered immediate talks with Russia for a full ceasefire but did not get an official response. The US military began flying 2,000 Georgian troops home from Iraq after Georgia recalled them, even while calling for a truce. Thousands of Georgians gathered in the capital Tbilisi on Sunday to protest against Russia's invasion into South Ossetia, marching to the Russian embassy and United Nations offices and calling for action from the UN and EU to stop Russia. Also on Sunday, Russia claimed to have sunk a Georgian boat that it said was trying to attack Russian vessels in the Black Sea. The ITAR-Tass news agency quoted a Russian defence ministry spokesman as saying that Georgian missile boats twice tried to attack Russian ships, which fired back and sank one of the Georgian vessels. Second front fears Meanwhile, Georgia said thousands of Russian troops arrived on Sunday in Abkhazia - another breakaway region from Georgia – amid fears of a second front opening as the separatist government there declared its own state of war. Russia says at least 2,000 people have been killed in South Ossetia [AFP]Georgian officials said Russia had begun an operation to storm the Georgian-controlled Kodori gorge in Abkhazia. But Russia's armed forces on Sunday denied plans to expand their conflict with Georgia into the Abkhazia region. "We do not plan to escalate the conflict in this region," Anatoly Nogovitsyn, an army spokesman, said in televised remarks, referring to Abkhazia. In Russia, the number of Ossetian refugees continued to grow. The Red Cross said the unrest had forced at least 40,000 people from their homes and UN officials said at least 1,000 people had crossed the border into the Russian province of North Ossetia since the war began in South Ossetia. Three days of fighting have left sections of South Ossetia's capital Tskhinvali in ruins and an undetermined number of fighters and civilians dead. Grigory Karasin, Russia's deputy foreign minister, said more than 2,000 people had been killed in South Ossetia since Friday, most of them Ossetians, but the figure could not be independently confirmed. War of words At the United Nations on Sunday, the Russian and American ambassadors were having a war of their own – exchanging sharp remarks over the escalating conflict. Zalmay Khalilzad, the US ambassador, accused Moscow of seeking "regime change" in Georgia and resisting attempts to make peace after days of deadly fighting. Sport Olympic medalists call for peace Russia's Paderina and Georgia's Salukvadze embraced on the podium [GALLO/GETTY] Russian and Georgian medalists have shared a podium and an embrace at the Beijing Olympics, calling for peace in the escalating dispute between their two countries. Russia's Natalia Paderina and Georgia's Nino Salukvadze took the silver and bronze medals respectively on Sunday in the women's 10-metre air pistol. Salukvadze's bronze was Georgia's first medal of the Beijing games and the country's first ever medal in shooting. Gu Wenjun of host nation China won the gold medal. After the medal ceremony, Salukvadze put her arm around Paderina and the two posed together for photographs. Paderina than gave Salukvadze a kiss on the cheek.
